The Easter Story
Many people think that easter means looking for eggs, bunnies and chocolate. But not many people know the actual story of why we celebrate it. According to the christian story, we celebrate Easter because of the rising of Jesus. That’s why some people refer to it as Resurrection Day. People knew the date by knowing that it is two days after good friday, until it was marked on the calender a very long time ago. There were many different stories on how Jesus came back to life but the one I am going to tell is the most often told one.
Jesus was sentenced to death after he was accused of being too powerful by Judes. Pontius Pilate was the person to take care of his arrest and trial. Some say that he was reluctant to sentence Jesus to death. After, he was nailed to a cross, and left to die. Three days later, Jesus seemingly magically rose from his death, to the surprise of many. It is believed that God was the one who did this because he believed that Jesus was a good man and deserved to live.
