How Likely Are You to Help a Stranger?
In Brooklyn a tired-looking man stepped on a bus and held up I white plastic bag full of sandwiches. Going around the train, he offered sandwiches to the riders, and even though no one took one, several women went into their purses and gave him money. By offering things to people, this man got money back. I think that this was an effective, simple and smart way to get money. In the article, it shows that there was an average of 22,328 people that were sleeping in the streets of New York per night. The increase of homelessness in New York is an entire 50% since 2005. And in homeless shelters, there was 35,000 people sleeping in shelters (both kids and adults). Several people say that since the recession (the economic downfall) hit, there has been a lot of homes closing and many people have gone broke, and are sleeping in the streets. I think that this articles story about the man on the train was interesting and it made me pick this particular one. I think whoever had chosen to pick this topic was very smart, because it shows how the economy is making people loose their homes and how people have resorted to using their minds to get what they need.
