For my last CSL post I looked up homelessness and Monarch School. I got a lot of videos about graduating students and people who’s parents lost their jobs. The ones that stood out to me were the ones about the students who were homeless or living with relatives. In two of the stories, it tells about how two girls were constantly moving from one homeless shelter to another and one’s father even left after he lost his job twice. I can imagine how stressful it would be to live like that, always going from one place to the next, not being able to make any friends and not having a long lasting home. Here is a link to an interview on the news that 10 news did with a syudent at the Monarch School.

What I liked the best about making a documentary was that you could pick the topic that you did. I think when you choose it, it makes it easier to do. Another thing I liked about it was that you could do it as a group, which made it more fun and was a big help even though some of my group where gone. I think what was frustrating was that we had to work with iMovie a lot, and even though we had worked on iMovie before, and all the movie we had was on one laptop, which we didn’t have for while, so that was really annoying. I think I have always had a very strong opinion about the way woman should be treated and how they were. However, this video really opened my eyes and made me think about how greatly mistreated women are in society. I think that it would be fun to make a documentary in the future. Of what, I don;t know but I really like filming and being able to tell people my perspective of a topic. I like to make more random videos than actual planned out scripts, though. I think that everyone in my group really dedicated what time they had and more to the project. We did have a lot of people leave and that made it a lot more difficult, but I feel we all put a lot of work into the project, and that’s what matters the most. I am happy with he project. While we were working on it, it seemed messy but I think it always looks different as a finished project. The results so far have been good, and there weren’t any technical errors so it looks great! I think I would make sure that we could all be there, and I definitely check more over iMovie because that was a big problem. There were also a lot of small things. I’m not sure what I learned from making my own rubric but it was really fun. Managing a long project over time took a lot of responsibility and I learnt a lot of different things. I learnt some stuff about iMovie and other technical stuff on my laptop. I think it is an effective way to learn about history and it was a really fun project to do!

I was looking at the Monarch school website and found this video. The video is about a homeless family of five. The three children in the story go to the Monarch School, the school that we are donating to. In the story, the Dad used to have a job, but when he got sick, he got fired and had to move to an apartment. That meant no one in the family had a steady income. Then, when they couldn’t afford that, they had to move to a hotel, which they said was really stressful, have to pay so much money a week. I tried to put myself in the familys perspective, not having much money, and living on the streets. I imagine it would be really hard, trying to get a job in these times, even though they’re looking for anything. I picked this story because it had a really good topic, and it really helped me open my eyes to see what it was like for a homeless family of five.
